Once a year, when the last leaves have fallen and the first snow adorns the meadows and forests of the Inner Salzkammergut, a special atmosphere enters people's homes. The Advent season traditionally begins at the Gosau Mountain Christmas, where on the first and second weekends of Advent the whole area around the local history museum is bathed in a Christmassy dress amidst the mountain and forest landscape. Hallstatt, the romantic World Heritage town on Lake Hallstatt, invites you to its traditional Christmas market on 8 December. The large illuminated Christmas tree and the three-dimensional nativity scene lend a contemplative flair to the famous marketplace.
