There is a special atmosphere when organisers, locals and visitors come together in the pre-Christmas period at the catering stands in front of the venerable basilica, look for original and handmade Christmas gifts in the cloister and admire the musical performances of the artists and associations.

The heart of "Advent in Mondsee" is the weather-protected Gothic cloister of the former Benedictine monastery, where around 35 artists and craftspeople offer local products and handmade goods every weekend.
