Etiquette & Trail Tolerance

As newcomers at the playing field of the mountain- and  hobby sportsmen is it for eMTB-bikers particulary important, to behave appropriate in this environment.

In Graubünden bikers and hikers are sharing the pathes and roads. This model should act as a precedent for other projects. Of course, this demands mutual respect. Black sheeps lead to a throwback of many years.

  1. NO TUNING
With motortuning  E-MTBs lose the state of a bicycle. Even though 25 km/h seem to be to slow on some parts of the trail. Tuning is illegal und harms the sport itself in the end.
  2. TRAILSHARING
Hikers, trailrunners, classic bikers - only with respect a togetherness is possible. Therefore a proper distance to each other and the adjustment of the speed to the given situation are considered as top priorities, in particular because for others it is difficult to estimate your speed.
  3. NO SKID MARKS
This is an absolute No-Go, as it shows nothing more than an inability of technique: Longer braking distance, noises frigthening the environment and damages of the trails are only few expamples of the negative consequences.
  4. ATTENTION TRAFFIC
Especially  in curves pay attention to oncoming bikers or other vehicles.  We comply with the rules of the traffic regulation (STVO) and overcome others in walking pace.
  5. STAY ON TRACK
Side trips over meadows or through rocks should be avoided as well as other shortcuts. We only take marked routes.
Violations of these rules lead to serious disturbance of the wildlife and damages of the forest areas and plants.
  6. NO TOURS IN THE EVENING AND BY NIGHT
Night rides might be fun, but for the nature and the animals it is a torture and a catastrophe. For this reason we only bike during the permitted time periods from 1st of May to 31st of October:
    May till August 7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.
    September  8.00 a.m. to 6.00 Uhr p.m.
    October 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
  7. BEHAVIOR IN THE FOREST
As we are guests and visitors of the forest, we behave accordingly. We leave the nature behind in the same condition we found it – without waste.
  8. RESTRAINT
Many bikes look like motocross-machines, loud colors, protectores and helmets attract attention of a martial optics.
Balance it with your friendly behavior and maybe you do not even need a full face helmet.  While overcoming step of the bike and have a chat with hikers or classic bikers on the way.

With common rules we ensure, that our forests will also be in the future an unique habitat for recreation and workplace for all of us.

More information regarding cycling in  the forest you will find here.
