Our rules for a carefree winter experience

  • We start well equipped, plan enough time and inform ourselves about the current snow and weather conditions.
  • We let ourselves be guided by a competent guide if we do not know the area yet.
  • We observe the existing rules of conduct in nature, any information and information boards as well as markings in the terrain when planning our tour.
  • We stay on the officially marked ski routes and trails in the Dachstein Salzkammergut vacation region.
  • We adhere to the fact that skiing in the forest off the marked slopes or ski routes is prohibited.
  • We never ski through reforestation and young growth areas. The ski edges destroy the still young trees.
  • We keep sufficient distance to single trees or groups of trees, because they are an important staging area of birch grouse, snow hares and other wild animals.
  • We keep our dogs on a leash.
  • We avoid game over a wide area if possible. We observe wildlife only from a distance and do not approach the animals further in order not to expose them to unnecessary stress.
  • We avoid designated feeding areas, wildlife resting areas and avoid noise.
  • We avoid spending time in nature before sunrise and after sunset, as well as spending time at dusk. This is an important period for wildlife in winter for feeding and resting, which is necessary for survival.
  • We dispose of our garbage properly.

Safety tips and disclaimer

The described ski and snowshoe tours are in the open alpine terrain, the walk is at your own risk.

The selection of the presented tours was made with the best possible avoidance of objective dangers, but presuppose personal responsibility and anticipatory action. The cold weather and the short days in winter are to be considered in the tour planning as well as the snow situation.
Appropriate clothing and the carrying of alpine emergency equipment (avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe, bivy sack and cell phone) are prerequisites for a responsible mountain experience.
Should an emergency situation arise, the alpine emergency number in Austria can be reached at 140.
