With situational comedy, affectionate barbs, and plenty of laughs. And subtle nuances when it comes to family, loss, and togetherness in a hectic time. If Christmas is particularly chaotic this year, but also heartwarming and very funny, Gery Seidl has something to do with it. In his first leading role in a movie, the cabaret artist and audience favorite plays construction manager Andi. Not a particularly relaxed one, but one with a “work-work” balance, an impatient boss (Roland Düringer) and even more impatient Chinese clients breathing down his neck. The timing is rather unfortunate, as he has some making up to do with his wife Steffi (Marlene Morreis) and bonus daughter Alma (Mia Plamberger).

So he promises to provide a very special Christmas idyll. And he means it, once again – but this time with all his heart. Of course, everything turns out differently than planned. Competitive pressure in the construction industry, family expectations, and the surprising fact that gifts are also expected pile up into a crazy mix of excessive demands and the best of intentions. The fact that his wife and daughter then rush off to the Waldviertel region to stay with his strict mother-in-law (Maria Hofstätter) because “structure” is needed doesn't make things any easier. Andi has to prove himself. He wants to take over the entire Christmas organization, as is proper, with a big tree and everyone's favorite dessert. And who knows, maybe even a white Christmas. And not to forget: with the right decorations! All this despite 280 toilet seats being stuck at customs and the tree he ordered being lost. His buddy Bertl (Thomas Mraz) promises his full support, but ends up causing even more chaos. Gery Seidl is joined by a fantastic ensemble of popular stars from the Austrian film and cabaret scene: Thomas Mraz, Thomas Stipsits, Roland Düringer, Maria Hofstätter, Heinz Marecek, Lisa Eckhart, Adele Neuhauser, Johannes Silberschneider, Erika Mottl, Christopher Seiler, Michi Buchinger, Okan Cömert, Stefano Bernardin, Anthony Curtis Kirby, Angelika Niedetzky, and many more.

AUFPUTZT IS tells a humorous story about failing to live up to one's own expectations and how Christmas can be a success even when nothing else seems to be going right. In between, there is also room for a little emotion. This is a film for everyone who loves Christmas, hates it, or simply wants to survive it.
