Concert to start the year

Bruckner Orchestra Linz ‘8 Seasons – Vivaldi meets Piazzolla’

Concertmaster: Jacob Meining

As the old year draws to a close and the new one begins, ‘8 Seasons’ – two masterpieces that musically reflect the changing times – ring out. Antonio Vivaldi's ‘Le Quattro Stagioni’ (1725) and Astor Piazzolla's ‘Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas’ (1965–1970).

With compositional virtuosity, Vivaldi created a musical encyclopaedia of nature that has lost none of its freshness to this day. Around 250 years later, Astor Piazzolla, the innovator of tango nuevo, took up this theme – but his ‘Four Seasons’ do not depict a picturesque ideal, but rather the urban life of the modern metropolis. Melancholy, passion and rhythmic sharpness combine powerfully when baroque elegance meets the sophistication of tango.

The Bruckner Orchestra Linz, in an appropriately smaller line-up, is conducted by its first concertmaster, Jacob Meining, a native of Dresden.

There is no more stylish way to celebrate the start of the year!
