In the solar crafting course for children and adolescents, we build a water-worthy boat from recycling materials like a fish can, cardboard, and straws, which is powered by a photovoltaic cell and a solar motor with a ship's propeller. The high-performance solar cell generates electricity from light based on the photovoltaic principle and makes the boat move even on cloudy days. Here, the children learn how to create SOMETHING useful out of NOTHING (discarded waste and free solar energy). When the sun shines or there is good light, the completed solar boats will take their rounds in the paddling pool or fountain, powered solely by the sun's energy. The children will craft their own toy and recognize the free energy from sunlight, taking their boat home with them. The super solar boat has a solar cell that is about 3 times larger and thus operates significantly faster.
