The Volksliedsingkreis Faistenau was founded in 1971 and has since been led by choirmaster Peter Lindenthaler.
Since 2014 MBA Ulrike Weichinger is also choirmaster. Peter Lindenthaler was appointed honorary choirmaster on the occasion of the 50th anniversary.
We currently have 30 active singers and 41 supporting members. There are also small groups within the choir who are invited to participate in various events. The women wear the Flachgauer Sunday costume, while the men wear a grey jacket, lederhosen and grey socks. The black Lamberg hat has been chosen.
The main task of the association is to preserve, maintain and promote our folk culture, especially in the areas of folk song, folk music and traditional costume. Through their work, the members want to awaken and maintain the love for our homeland. In the future they also want to get young people more interested in alpine folk songs. The singers meet once a week for rehearsals and enrich the local cultural landscape with various activities, such as the annual Folk Song Day on the alp, the Advent 'Anklöckeln' and participation in local events.
At regular 'open singing circles', people who enjoy singing are invited to join in and experience the alpine folk song through singing together, and perhaps even acquire a taste for it.
