The Schatzwand is an insider tip for connoisseurs. August Meindl had discovered the summit a long time ago. In 1988 he decided to erect a cross on the occasion of his 60th birthday at the summit. "I have not asked for permission for a long time. I just asked the Lord God if he was right and he agreed, "he said. By the 75s - in 2003 - his mountain friends thought it was time to renew the cross. Mr. Meindl insisted on making his own cross and roof, Hans Wimmer carved the figure of Christ. In our church, the cross was blessed.
In May 2004, mountain friends Adi Ganisl, Karl Auswöger, Meinrad Rieger, Toni Nußbaumer and Hans Wimmer, headed by Roland Hartmann, set out to carry the "Gustl-Meindl-Gipfelkreuz" onto the Schatzwand. There it was set up with a view into the Mondseeland and from now on it is to commemorate the mountain mate August Meindl, who left many signs of his carpentry in the Mondseeland.
