Stalingrad memorial

The Memorial Stone is located on the southern wall of the Basilika Mondsee. It was shown to the public in a ceremony on the 21st of june in 1992.

The inscription says: "To remember those who died captivity in Stalingrad, 43 of those who come from the Mondseeland" 
Kanonikus Rudolf Weinberg from Mattsee from the Military oversaw the ceremony.
 

Putting up the memorial Stone was a struggle because of conflict of opinion. The ceremony was Held by the black cross and consulent Karl Harner said in his speech: "Commemmoration of death is an act of Fellowship and humanity" 
The Mayor Dipl. -Ing. Otto Mierl included everyone who had fallen in the second world war in his speech.
