Mondsee - Irrsee

Mondsee am Mondsee

Mondsee-Irrsee – or where the mountain meets the lake

A lake steeped in history. And has been since the Neolithic Age.
1,000 years of monastic life as a wellspring of culture, which is more vibrant than ever.
Where everyone speaks the local dialect and music drifts out across the lake in gentle waves.

Nestled between the Schafberg, Mondseeberg and Drachenwand, the market town of Mondsee lies picturesquely on the shores of the lake of the same name. This beautiful corner of the world was settled as far back as prehistoric times by the so-called pile-dwellers and has since developed into a sophisticated little town offering a wealth of possibilities.

Away from the major ski resorts, mass tourism and the hustle and bustle of après-ski, the area around the two lakes, Mondsee and Irrsee, offers everything you need for a relaxing winter.
A shot of schnapps to warm you up whilst curling, followed by a roast in the Rein; a solitary winter or snowshoe hike with breathtaking views; great fun hiking with fluffy four-legged friends; a natural toboggan run and much more.
Afterwards, you can relax in the outdoor ‘hot tub’ with a mug of mulled wine or pop into your favourite local pub.
