Reading by Mr. Wolfram Huber
The relatively unknown novella selected by Huber comes from the poet’s estate; the poet was a frequent guest in Bad Ischl. It was successfully adapted into a film in 1989 starring Christiane Hörbiger and Klausjürgen Wussow and tells, from the perspective of a doctor’s wife, her encounter with a down-and-out old man in a Tyrolean mountain village, where she has retreated to escape her overwhelming workload. Stefan Zweig tells a gripping and moving story with great psychological insight.
