Course Info: A day of vacation by the lake is coming to an end, the evening sun casts a warm light over the mountains, and the question slowly arises: What will be on the plate tonight? In this cooking class, you will learn about some of the most famous dishes from the Alpine region and gain insights into the stories and traditions behind them. Together, we will cook typical specialties as they have been prepared for generations in the Alpine regions. We will kick off with a cold Pustertal apple soup, which is particularly appealing on warm summer days. Next, we will prepare fried Pinzgauer cheese dumplings with a small salad, lingonberries, and pumpkin seed oil. We will continue with South Tyrolean Schlutzkrapfen, whose artisanal production is still maintained today. To sweeten the end, we will dedicate ourselves to one of the most famous dishes of Austrian cuisine: Kaiserschmarrn with plum compote. Many people believe that a good Kaiserschmarrn requires beaten egg whites or that the batter must rise in the oven. In this course, I will show you a simple and practical preparation that allows this popular dish to succeed in a short time. The selected recipes have one more advantage: the necessary ingredients are easily available in most countries. Thus, you can also recreate these dishes at home after your vacation and share a piece of Alpine culinary culture with family and friends. While cooking, you will learn interesting facts about the origin of the dishes, the ingredients used, and the culinary traditions of the Alpine region. You will, of course, receive the recipes to take home. The course starts at 5:00 p.m. After about two hours of cooking together, we will enjoy the prepared dishes in a relaxed atmosphere and conclude the vacation day on a culinary note. A vacation experience for everyone who wants to get to know the taste of the Alps and take a piece of it home.
