Finally vacation - finally barefoot!

A guide to happiness in 10 points provided by the Salzkammergut lakes.

All information without guarantee. Ask a local person about possible unwanted risks and side effects.  All points have already proved their worth a thousand times in the context of a summer resort around Attersee, Fuschlsee, Mondsee and Wolfgangsee.

  •     Take off shoes and socks

What is the first thing you do after a tiring journey? Turn on the television or check the W-LAN? How about taking off your shoes - Salzkammergut means enjoying with all your senses. Therefore, feel the Salzkammergut from the tips of your toes to the roots of your hair. This is best done barefoot!

  •     Drink tap water

In hardly any holiday destination does the best soft drink come directly from the tap. This avoids beverage costs as well as plastic waste. The clean water is also the content of our Salzkammergut lakes. Not for nothing is the Fuschlsee the drinking water reservoir of the city of Salzburg.

  •     Switch off your mobile phone (or at least on silent)

Yes, the technology of the 21st century has also found its way into the Salzkammergut. W-Lan is available in every accommodation and also in public spaces. Mobile phone reception guarantees permanent accessibility even at the end of the valley. But why not leave your smartphone at home and enjoy our lakes without looking at the screen?

  •     Not having a plan

In the world of work and also privately we rush from appointment to appointment. Our life is a permanently perfectly planned timetable. Why not indulge yourself in leisure at the Salzkammergut lakes and live your day without a plan?

  •     Read the small print in the menu

We are particularly proud of our regional menus in almost all restaurants in the Salzkammergut. Almost every landlord and restaurant describes in their menus where the ingredients for the delicacies come from. Take a look at the suppliers and maybe you will not only get a taste of sustainable regionality but also a visit from one of our direct marketers!

  •     Smile in rainy weather

We are neither Adria nor Andalusia, with us it rains from time to time, sometimes less and sometimes more. We cannot guarantee sunshine, but it is green here. While other holiday destinations moan under the summer heat, in our case, there is a balanced climate. Just the famous summer resort. When it rains, we know that it will be green in the future and that we have enough water available. Therefore we are happy about the rain - rejoice with us!

  • Visit the Attersee

Austria's largest inland lake is known for its clear turquoise waters, its villas and its cultural past. Klimt and Mahler are famous names of its past. Become part of the history of the Attersee and walk in the footsteps of great artists.

  •   Visit the Fuschlsee

Big enough to be famous, small enough to be circumnavigated in a leisurely hike. Stroll along the shores of the naturally protected Lake Fuschl and marvel at the successful contrasts between the noble Fuschl Castle and the modern headquarters of an international energy drink producer.

Sound of Music - already heard? No? Then you probably come from a German speaking country. All over the rest of the world, the film "Sound of Music", which won an Oscar in 1960, is still present on television channels, mostly around Christmas. The film wedding was shot in the sublime basilica in Mondsee. Not necessarily an insider tip, but worth seeing!

The Wolfgangsee, like all lakes in the Salzkammergut, has its very own character. And the Wolfgangsee shows inventive talent. Lake Wolfgang has reinvented Advent and shown that summer retreats can also take place during the pre-Christmas period. So don't forget to visit the Salzkammergut outside the summer months.
