Awarding of the Mondseeland Poetry Prize to Christian Filips - Ladatio by Yevgeniy Breyger

Invitation to the award ceremony of the 13th Poetry Prize of the Mondseeland in the Fürstenzimmer of Mondsee Castle on June 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. The jury has awarded this prestigious prize, which comes with prize money of € 7,500.00, to Christian Filips in 2025. The laudatory speech will be given by Yevgeniy Breyger, winner of the 2023 Mondseeland Poetry Prize.

The jury awards the Mondseeland Poetry Prize to Christian Filips "For a cycle of poems that succeeds with great ease in building a bridge between strict form and the greatest possible freedom. For masterfully stumbling sonnets that do not shy away from combining Rilke reminiscences with so-called "deadbots", digital images of the deceased that supposedly offer comfort to the bereaved. With the help of poetry, Christian Filips adds a highly topical mirror image to the world in poems that defy mourning with a brilliant celebration of life and are able to express existential matters without lapsing into sacred seriousness."
