Spring - a symbol of departure and new beginnings. How could this feeling be experienced more impressively musically than with Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 in E minor op. 95 "From the New World" and Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 1 in B flat major op. 38, the "Spring Symphony".
With these two masterpieces, the Ischl Symphony Orchestra brings the awakening of nature, pure joie de vivre and the courage to try something new directly to the audience in the 4th Symphony Concert.
Influenced by Dvořák's stay in the United States, Symphony No. 9 bears witness to an intensive exploration of African-American spirituals and indigenous soundscapes. Unbridled energy, rhythmic and harmonic diversity and innovative tonal language are combined in what is probably his most famous work with one of the most impressive slow movements in symphonic music.
With Schumann's "Spring Symphony", the Ischl Symphony Orchestra sets the musical mood for the blossoming season. Inspired by the awakening of nature, an optimistic, lively sound unfolds that is full of verve and confidence from the very beginning. This cheerful mood pervades the entire work and sends the audience off into spring and summer in Ischl with a smile.
