Exhibition of the Barmstoana Perchten

Who knows that the two Barmstoana above Hallein were thrown here by the devil himself when he was awakened one Holy Evening by singing pilgrims? The history of the Barmstoana Perchten is intertwined with this myth, and their multifaceted wooden masks are all made independently.

The special exhibition at the Hundsmarktmühle presents some of the most beautiful, but also the scariest masks in connection with the tradition of the Perchten custom.
