Salzburg Museum Weekend: Experience museums – discover new things!

“VALUABLE THINGS from the BEEHIVE”

On Sunday, May 26th, our Hof gem, the smokehouse “Mühlgrub” on the Riedl, will open its doors again to interested visitors!

Under the motto: “Experience museums – discover new things” this year, in cooperation with the Catholic Education Center and the Healthy Village of Hof, we have invited bee experts who will tell us about their work with the busy insects and give us insights into their work. We learn about the ecological importance of bees and about the amazing life cycle of a bee colony through a living hive. Of course, we also get a lot of information and interesting facts about the wonderful products from the bee colony.

The “sweet gold” can also be tasted and purchased on site, as well as many other products such as lip balm, honey candy, liqueurs…

At the craft table we invite the children to be creative and make a flower-arranging bee or create works of art out of beeswax and take them home as a souvenir.

Furthermore, our curator of the Rauchhaus, Hans Gschaider, will guide those seeking knowledge through the old walls from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and looks forward to telling you interesting facts about the history of the house.

At a small, active smoke house Olympics in the garden, there is the opportunity to prove yourself at milking, throwing horseshoes and nailing. As every year, our “Rauchhaus kitchen fairy” Petra Salzmann spoils us with fresh farmer’s donuts with sugar or sauerkraut.

Of course, the popular “honey bread” and a “healthy honey schnapps” should not be missing on this day!
