Scythe production from craftsmanship to industry
The Scythe Museum brings Scharnstein's 400-year tradition of scythe production back to life. Using faithfully preserved forging hammers, former blacksmiths demonstrate the fine art of scythe forging.
You will also gain comprehensive insights into the working world and social life of the scythe smiths, as well as the rapid rise of the Redtenbacher company to become the largest scythe manufacturer in the Danube Monarchy until its demise in 1987.
An audio guide provides additional information.
