Sportunion Ebensee

Founded on May 2nd, 1945, SPORTUNION has a remarkable history with many ups and downs.

As early as 1900, the first Christian-German gymnastics club “Christlich-Deutscher Turnerbund” was founded, and in 1914 the Christian-German Gymnastics Association of Austria (CDTÖ) was founded. After the First World War, the CDTÖ was re-established in 1921, which was dissolved immediately after the annexation of Austria. The chairman of the association at that time was Dr. Josef Pultar, who was also the first association chairman when the Austrian Gymnastics and Sports Union (later SPORTUNION) was founded in 1945. When the new association was founded in 1945, the aim was to create a party-politically independent association that would unite gymnastics and sport on the basis of Christian values.
