The founding of the association cannot be reconstructed exactly based on records. A club sign from 1861, which is located in the local history museum in Ebensee, says that the Vogelfreunde Himmel already existed at least at that time. This makes them the longest existing club in the Salzkammergut Association of Bird Friends.
