Gagarin Gedenktafel

Bad Ischl, Oberösterreich, Österreich
Memorial plaque in memory of Prince Leon Gagarin and his son Prince Vladimir
If you drive from Bad Ischl in the direction of Rettenbachalm, you cross the Rettenbach. Immediately after the bridge, the former "Rettenbachmühle" inn is on the right, while a path leads to the "Hubhanslau" on the left. If you follow it, you will come to the "Gagarin memorial plaque" signpost after a few metres.
The memorial plaque commemorates Prince Leon Gagarin and his son Vladimir, who drowned at this spot on 3 August 1868. It is assumed that the two were bathing when the sluices were opened in the Rettenbachalm for timber drifting.
