Mondsee am Mondsee, Oberösterreich, Österreich
  • All weather

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL is a non-governmental (NGO) and non-profit organization that campaigns for human rights worldwide. The work is based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and other human rights documents. The Mondseer Amnesty International Group has existed since 1938 and over the years has tried to give weight and importance to human rights in Mondsee.
How to become a member & requirements:
The prerequisite is identification with the inviolability and the all-encompassing validity of human rights and the willingness to support the goals and concerns of Amnesty. We also expect commitment, reliability, some time to plan and hold events, to send letters and for the group meetings for which we meet approximately every three to four weeks. At a non-binding meeting, ideas and opportunities for cooperation can be clarified. We offer interesting discussions, background information that might not be in the daily newspaper, and the opportunity to implement ideas creatively and independently. From a formal point of view, one becomes a member of Amnesty International by joining (using the form). Membership fee: No membership fee for active members. 55 € or 18 € (for pupils and students) for supporting members. Meetings: The group meetings take place approximately every three to four weeks. In addition, there are numerous further training offers (seminars, mostly in Vienna) through the "Amnesty Academy" and national meetings. Participation: Interested parties are welcome by prior arrangement. For our book flea market or the big event in autumn, we are also looking for helpers who take on project-related tasks, such as the graphic design of posters, sorting and / or selling books and much more. Events: - A larger event in autumn with human rights implications (e.g. lecture, discussion, reading, poetry slam). - Book flea market on the weekend of Pentecost. - Human rights campaigns (e.g. movie night, information booth). We are always open to new ideas and we like to implement our own projects together. Since 2013, the Amnesty Group Mondseeland has been inviting people to a top-class information and educational event every autumn. Our previous guests: Karim El-Gawhary, Karin Kneissl, Paul Lendvai, former Bishop Erwin Kräutler.
