The hike to the Eibensee is one of the most beautiful and naturally diverse in the area around Fuschl am See. It is rare to find so many different landscape elements and biotopes on such an attractive hike. Meadows, moors and bog forests, marsh grass meadows and beech forests, rock corridors and spruce forests can be discovered on this route. Starting point / end point: On the main road towards St. Gilgen at the Füßlmühle house Route: We start our hike along the Eibenseebach near the Füßlmühle on the main road towards St. Gilgen. From there we follow the forest road, past the old forester's house. At both junctions we keep to the right and follow the signs to Eibensee. Below the treasure wall there is a striking surface on which the beech tree tapers beautifully and forms an almost and penetrating thicket. It continues uphill along the Eibenseebach. Here there are beautiful limestone cliffs with typical crevice vegetation, such as Scheuchzer's bluebell in bloom, for example. We go through the Wildgatter, keep right at the next junction and follow the course of the stream. Shortly afterwards we reach the Wildmoos nature reserve near the Eibensee - a partially drained moor with beautiful whistle grass meadows. Passing the wild meadow, we take the middle path, which leads us back up a bit, out of the nature reserve. We pass the Wildgatter, follow the forest road over two serpentines and reach a somewhat hidden junction to the right to the Eibensee. After a short stretch of forest, the Eibensee suddenly lies in front of us in all its glory. On the southern shore of the lake, a small path leads towards St. Gilgen / Kleiner-Kapelle. The 15-minute ascent to the Marienköpfl is worthwhile. A beautiful vantage point with a small summit cross. Another path leads in the direction of Almkogel to St. Lorenz and Mondsee.
