In 1964, the Traunkirchen branch was founded as a subsidiary of the Gmunden branch. However, just two years later, on 4 March 1966, the founding meeting took place, and Traunkirchen thus became an independent branch. Between 1966 and 1968, members of the Traunkirchen Mountain Rescue Service built an alpine refuge on the Kleiner Sonnstein (923 m). Our operational area covers the municipalities of Altmünster and Traunkirchen.
