The Elmsee is a remote mountain lake in the Toten Gebirge near Grundlsee in Styria – a quiet natural jewel for experienced hikers and nature lovers.
The Elmsee is located at an altitude of approximately 1,623 m in the southern Toten Gebirge within the municipality of Grundlsee, Ausseerland, Styria.
The small, surface drainage-less Trogsee is nestled in a karst landscape made of Dachstein limestone and is drained underground through the Lahngangsee into the Toplitzsee.
At the foot of the Elmsee lies the Pühringerhütte, a shelter of the Austrian Alpine Club, which serves as a starting point for further high alpine tours.
