Kalvarienbergkirche St. Leonhard

Bad Aussee, Steiermark, Österreich
  • All weather

The Ausseer Leonhardkirche or as the vernacular also says, the "Fuhrleut-Kira", is a Gothic church in origin with an episcopal building permit from April 3, 1398.

The Gothic style can still be seen in the church portals, the sacristy door, the choir vestibule arch and the border of the offertory on the outside of the church.

On the north and south inner walls there is a small wrought-iron door each, which closed the offering stalls that were on the outer wall of the church from the inside.

These were used at the time of salt transport, when the carters who transported the salt over the Radling Pass towards the Enns Valley, threw their offerings here for a happy journey.
