The monument of the peasant wars on the Haushamerfeld.

On 15 May 1625, the governor Adam Graf von Herbertstorff had 36 farmers and citizens from the parishes of Frankenburg, Gampern, Neukirchen, Pöndorf and Vöcklamarkt play dice for their lives here under the lime tree of Hausham without interrogation in order to set a deterrent example for the punishment of sedition and rebellion.

Central Europe was already seven years into the Thirty Years' War at this time, the country "Ob der Enns" also had to suffer from it, especially when in 1620 the Bavarians went through and plagued the people badly. The Attergau, since 1581 in the possession of the count of Garfen Khevenhüller, but also suffered under the pressure of the administrators of the count. Since the Attergau was predominantly Protestant, the land had to be made Catholic again by order of the Emperor. Thus it came to an uprising and Herberstorff came with his soldiers and executioners in the retinue to Frankenburg. Around 5000 men gathered under the lime tree at three o'clock that Thursday. Pair after pair approached, threw the dice from the cup, which decided on life and death. 16 men were hanged - 2 men were pardoned.
