Story:

On 20 May 1951, the seller Matthias Hintermann from St. Georgen i. A. in the area of the dragon wall. The friend, who was hurrying for help, could no longer describe the crash site in a shock. Only after a two-day search was the victim, who was probably not immediately dead; From an Alpander arm and a mountain rescue man from Gmunden only dead.

This incident led to the founding of the MondSeeLand site of the Austrian mountain rescue service. After a probationary period of two years, the provincial government on 28 May 1953 confirmed the local committee. The foundation of the Mondsee site was completed with the handing over of the service records and badges by the provincial government on 11 July 1953. Until 1959 she was headed by Matthias Soriat. Herbert Thaller held the management function from 1959 to 1979, afterwards Nikolaus Faber.

Since 2005, Heinz Hemetsberger has been the head of Mondsee, which currently has 28 trained mountain rescue men and women.
In addition to the salvages, monthly meetings are held, as well as regular exercises, courses, courses and lectures on the program of the rescue workers
