The excavation sites in the Attersee (Lake Attersee) are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps. The Pile Dwellings board of curators is the supporting organisation for the national management of the world heritage site.

The Site Management Upper Austria located in Attersee on the Attersee (Lake Attersee) is responsible for the pile dwelling stations on the Attersee as well as on the Mondsee (Lake Mondsee).
