Experience local railroad nostalgia - July 04th & 05th, 2026 | Upper Austria

On the Linzer Lokalbahn (LILO), the Vorchdorferbahn and the Traunseetram, all fans of local railroad nostalgia will be offered trains with real "treasures" from the first half of the 20th century.

This event is the perfect opportunity to spend two days in Upper Austria, immerse yourself in times gone by and experience rare historic vehicles up close. Whether for train enthusiasts, families or day-trippers - this experience is unique in the region!

The nostalgia weekend at a glance

Saturday, July 04th, 2025 - Linzer Lokalbahn (LILO)

• Historic feeder train Eferding - Waizenkirchen - Niederspaching
• Shuttle trips with historic trains between Waizenkirchen - Niederspaching and Prambachkirchen - Bad Weinberg from approx. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Vehicle show and information stand at Waizenkirchen station

Sunday, July 05th, 2026 - Vorchdorferbahn & Traunseetram

Lambach - Vorchdorf-Eggenberg local line

• Three pairs of trains with the historic ET 24.101, built in 1931 and vehicle show at Vorchdorf-Eggenberg station

Gmunden - Vorchdorf local line

• Two shuttle trains on meter gauge between Vorchdorf and Eisengattern with the former "Swiss" ET 23.112, built in 1954

How to get to the nostalgia trips around Vorchdorf in the Traunsee-Almtal region:

We recommend that you travel by public transport!

By train: via Attnang-Puchheim station to Gmunden station. Numerous connections from Attnang-Puchheim station to the main trains on the Westbahn line (line 101) or via Gmunden to the Salzkammergutbahn in the direction of Bad Ischl, Hallstatt and Bad Aussee.
From Gmunden or Gmunden Engelhof station, take the Traunsee streetcar (line 161) from Stern & Hafferl to Vorchdorf-Eggenberg station.

From Wels to Lambach on the Westbahn line (line 101), connections to mainline trains to Linz, Vienna or Salzburg. From Lambach station on the Vorchdorferbahn (line 160) to Vorchdorf-Eggenberg station.

by bicycle:
Vorchdorf Eggenberg station is also very easy to reach by bike.
From Gmunden along the Traunseetram to Vorchdorf, in Gmunden connection to the cycle routes:
Traunvierteltour, R4 Traunradweg and R2 Salzkammergutradweg.

A cycle connection leads from Lambach to Vorchdorf, in Lambach connection to the cycle connections:
R4 Traunradweg and R6 Römerradweg

by car:
Westautobahn A1 from Vienna/Linz or Salzburg - Exit A1 Vorchdorf - Vorchdorf train station
Highway A9 from Passau or Graz to the Voralpenkreuz, A1 to the Vorchdorf exit

Or by car to Gmunden Ost to the Engelhof P & R facility and from there continue with the Traunseetram.

Parking facilities:
We recommend using the Engelhof P & R facility in Gmunden.

In Vorchdorf there are a few parking spaces near the train station and additional parking spaces at the Kitzmantelfabrik event center.

Please only use the designated parking spaces and show consideration for private property!
