Farewell to the Old Year on the Lake Hallstatt

Between Christmas and New Year’s Eve the people of Obertraun as well as many guests say good-bye to the Old Year in a very special way.

Wonderful customs at the turn of the year

The Old Year's burning on Lake Hallstatt takes place on December 28th in Obertraun according to old custom.

The torch-lit hike through the snow-covered winter forest begins at 18:00.
Far away from the stress and hectic pace of everyday life, you will experience a unique ambience on Lake Hallstatt. A mystical, unforgettable evening awaits you.

An adventurous experience for children, with a campfire for grilling sausages, and a big bonfire for everyone to make wishes and worries.
Symbolically burn the worries and fears of the past year in a huge bonfire and throw your wishes, thoughts and resolutions for the coming year into the bonfire to make them come true.

A brass band from the Obertraun local band will provide the musical backdrop to the burning of the bonfire.
Contribution towards expenses: Prices will be available shortly. (consists of torch, sausage, pastry, drink)
