On August 15, the special steam train—a nostalgic steam train with passenger cars—will travel to Bad Ischl for the grand opening of the Emperor’s Festival. Then, as now, the Emperor’s arrival in Bad Ischl is a spectacular event! The journey, filled with numerous amazing performances, is therefore a real treat not only for railroad enthusiasts but also for young and old alike!
Imperial Train Arrives in Bad Ischl on August 15 Without a Steam Locomotive
On Saturday, August 15, 2026, the Imperial Train will arrive in Bad Ischl as planned—but without a steam locomotive.
The reason for this is the ongoing drought and the associated increased risk of fire. Under these conditions, flying sparks from a steam locomotive’s chimney could trigger embankment and forest fires. For safety reasons, the train will therefore be pulled by a replacement locomotive.
There will be no changes to the schedule or the rest of the program. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to your visit.
After the special train arrives at Bad Ischl (train station), there will be a festive8:45 a.m. “Emperor’s Reception” on the platform in Attnang-Puchheim with the Attnang-Puchheim Railroad Band
