Obertraun at the foot of the Dachstein Krippenstein is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut. Nestled between the imposing mountains, on the shores of Lake Hallstatt, this small town is the ideal starting point for many activities. Freeriding, skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing, winter hiking - Obertraun offers everything a winter's heart desires.

The World Heritage town of Obertraun is small but beautiful, located directly on the shores of Lake Hallstatt and surrounded by nature. The village is located in a valley along the Traun estuary, surrounded by high mountains. The most striking feature is the Dachstein Krippenstein, which towers over the valley at 2,100 metres and is a paradise for outdoor activities. From Obertraun, you can quickly and easily reach the Dachstein caves and hike to wonderful power spots such as the Koppenwinklsee lake or the Koppenbrüller cave. It's also not far to the cooling waters of the lake and the ski area.

In Bad Ischl take the exit onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 towards Bad Goisern, Hallstatt and Obertraun

From Linz:
A1 motorway exit Regau onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 towards Gmunden, Bad Goisern, Hallstatt and Obertraun

From Graz:
A9 motorway exit Liezen onto B320
In Trautenfels turn onto Salzkammergut Straße B145 via Bad Aussee to Obertraun

From Villach:
A10 Tauern motorway to exit "Eben im Pongau", from there via Annaberg, Gosau and Hallstatt to Obertraun
