On the second floor of the Kur- und Amtshaus in Altaussee is the Literature Museum. Friends of literary history will discover interesting facts about well-known personalities and unique originals to admire in the museum's collection. After a visit, the popular bookstore on the ground floor invites guests to browse.
For over 20 years, the Literature Museum has been located right in the center of Altaussee and is a fixed program point for friends of literary history when visiting the Ausseerland region. The newly designed Kurpark invites you to linger before or after your visit: The idyllic surroundings in front of the Literature Museum encourage you to browse through a book or two from the bookshop.
The collection of the museum tells the local history of Altaussee and houses some special exhibits, such as a unique media supplement to the cabinet of curiosities by Prof. Horst K. Jandl. For the Kulturhauptstadt 2024, the Literature Museum has been newly staged. Prominent personalities from literature who have worked and continue to work in Altaussee are presented. Originals like the Herzl bicycle and the voice of Torberg are showcased brilliantly.
