Feel the unique atmosphere at this place!
Nestled between the foothills of the Grimming and the Kemet mountains lies the wild romantic Salza Reservoir, which is five kilometers long and has a water volume of eleven million m³.
The formation of this terrain incision can still be traced back to the work of glaciers millions of years ago. The 121-meter-long and 53-meter-high dam was built in the years 1947/49, and it was recently fully renovated. The Salza Reservoir is located in a nature reserve, near the Optimamed Health Resort Bad Mitterndorf.
The state road along the Salza Reservoir (Bad Mitterndorf - St. Martin) is closed due to the danger of rockfalls and falling stones (this closure also applies to cyclists and pedestrians).
A visit to the Salza reservoir is free of charge.
