The name Grünau goes well with the color that dominates the entire landscape, but the name has an even deeper meaning. Jakob Grimm considered the "green meadows" to be sanctuaries of the Germanic goddess Berchta. The Berchten cult was at home in Austria, the Berchten nights are the rough nights. And there were also the maidens, who were primarily at Kasberg. They hung up their crisp white linen and disappeared, leaving the scent of roses when an uninvited man approached.
