Gradation and Kneipp Facility Altaussee

A special feature in the climatic spa Altaussee is the graduated saline facility near the Hotel Seevilla and Lake Altaussee.

The round saline facility:

In Altaussee, a outdoor saline facility was created in 1956 near the Seeklause, where brine is directly used from the Altaussee salt mountain through a pipeline. This brine drips over the fir branches of the saline facility, and the atomization of the dripping brine releases essential oils that provide immediate relief for bronchial and asthmatic patients. The structure itself consists of a wooden frame, which is filled with fir branches once a year. Filling the saline facility is pure handicraft.
Annual cleaning of the facility, cutting the fir branches in the forest, and filling require about two weeks of work!
These activities are mostly carried out by volunteer labor from the local population!

The square saline facility:

This structure is covered with wooden shingles made of fir wood, over which the brine trickles. Wind and sun contribute to the evaporation of the water present in the brine. The descending brine enriches the air in the saline facility with salt, and the water droplets bind particles in the air.

Effect:

A stay in the saline facility has a similar effect as sea air, for example on pollen allergy sufferers and asthmatics and others. The airways are moisturized, and the walls of the respiratory organs are positively influenced.
