k.u.k. Hofwirt Bad Ischl

The Hofwirt in Ischl embodies Austrian pub culture just as you’d love it: home-cooked food that takes you back to your childhood, modern pub dishes that surprise, and an atmosphere that feels just like a cosy home. This is where people meet up, enjoy a good meal, have a good laugh and are happy to stay a little longer.
Outside, right in the heart of Schröpferplatz, lies our outdoor dining area – the town’s summer living room. Sunny, central, open. This is where locals and visitors meet to enjoy coffee, Aperol, cocktails or a relaxed meal under the open sky. And when the sun goes down, that’s when the atmosphere really comes alive.
Right next door, the Schirmbar offers pure summer vibes: events, music, DJ nights, spontaneous evenings you didn’t plan – but will never forget. A place where summer pulsates and the town comes to life.
And when the weather turns cold, everything changes: our winter outdoor dining area with gondolas brings winter magic to Ischl. Warm lights, hot drinks, cosy gondolas and good food – a place that feels like a little mini-break right in the heart of the city.

When you talk about a "pub", everyone quickly realises what you mean.
However, if you want to explain it in generally understandable terms, you quickly run out of vocabulary.

Nevertheless - here is an attempt at a definition. It is:
- a meeting place - of course,
- a feel-good place - of course,
- a pub with a traditional scale of values - yes,
- a place with a bar and kitchen and the people that go with it - yes,
- a pub with wooden furniture and a white ceiling - also,
- a place without barriers to entry and without constraints - exactly,
- a place that cannot be considered a restaurant, a café, a bar or an entertainment venue - very true,
- a refreshment stop where you can reach for a large jug, but where there is no shortage of fine wine - good,
...... will gradually complete this list!

In any case, our pub is a landlord's / landlady's house, where someone tries to cater for someone who is commonly referred to as a guest by every trick in the book.

That's exactly what we have in mind here!

Not that we have to learn it all over again. Our experiences on the k.u.k. Hofbeisl stage of life, of course, but the k.u.k. Hofwirt represents a very high degree of "varietal purity"!
