# Ice climbing in the Salzkammergut

Equipped with crampons ...

... and special ice axes, fearless daredevils climb ice formations such as frozen waterfalls. In addition to a good deal of courage and good protective equipment, experience and all knowledge of alpine climbing are required, although the requirements on ice are completely different than on the rock. Safety must always come first, the dangerousness of this sport must never be underestimated. Experienced guides offer courses for every skill level, train you in the use of ice axes and instruct you in the necessary rope and safety techniques.
