The Rettenbachtal is one such place. Wild, steeped in history and with a quiet power that lingers. Anyone travelling here quickly realises that it's not just about a path through the landscape, but about immersing yourself in a space that combines nature, movement and history in a special way. With the reopening of the historic link between Rettenbachalm and Blaa Alm, this natural space can now be experienced again - for hikers, mountain bikers and anyone who wants to experience the Salzkammergut outdoors. The approximately six-kilometre-long section is part of a historic brine pipeline route towards Altaussee and was closed for several years. The fact that this section is now accessible again is the result of intensive preparatory work and broad cooperation. Hazardous areas were cleared, deadwood was removed and specific measures were taken on the basis of a risk analysis to enable safe use. The Austrian Federal Forests, the Salzkammergut Tourism Association, the Ausseerland Salzkammergut Tourism Association, the Ausseerland Regional Association and Salinen Austria AG were all involved. Ongoing inspections and further safety measures are also planned for the future. For the region, the opening of the Rettenbachtal is therefore far more than just an infrastructural improvement. It shows how natural space, responsibility and the tourist experience can be considered together. Between striking rock faces, dense forests and vast alpine pastures, the Salzkammergut shows a side of itself that doesn't have to be loud to make an impression. Around the Rettenbachalm, one of the largest low mountain pastures in Europe, there is a mixture of vastness, unspoilt nature and movement that makes the Salzkammergut so unmistakable.
