Krampustreiben in Obertraun
Event locationMarket square Obertraun
Tradition is offered at the annual Krampustreiben in Obertraun in connection with a spectacular show!
Every year the Obertrauner Marktplatz will be the scene of this traditional and spectacular event of all three Obertrauner Krampus groups on the 5th of December.
There is a nice tea shop to keep warm and feeling well at 7:00 p.m.
At 08:15 p.m. Nicholas distributes sweets to the "good children", followed by the hellish event!
You also have the opportunity to enjoy the "Krampus run" in the extra 'non-impact zone'.
In the afternoon there is always the possibility that St. Nicholas and Krampus visit the children at home.
What is a Krampus?
The name derives from the old German "Krampen"= something lifeless or withered
The Krampus is a pre-Christian frightening figure of Advent. While Nicholas presents good children, the naughty ones are punished by Krampus.
