Can women’s rights be reconciled with religious traditions? Can traditional religions accept gender equality? Sculptures, caricatures, photography, body art, and literature are key elements of the film because, as Verena Soltiz explains, their messages touch the heart more directly. “Girls and Gods” asks: Are time-honored traditions really as unshakable as we think?
