Since december 1997 the region Hallstatt Dachstein Salzkammergut is referred UNESCO- world heritage. Not only the exeptional nature and landscape, but also the culture and folklore of the region makes what is special about it.
Hikes with the pram around the Gosaussee, for example, as well as very challenging mountain tours to the Dachstein or Gosaukamm, for example, are possible. The cable car is also in operation in summer.
Another possibility is to reach the Löckernsee (moor) on foot from Gosau. This is a unique jewel of nature (there is otherwise only in Scotland).
Bad Ischl and Hallstatt can be reached by car within half an hour. Public buses also run to these places.
The Dachstein Mammuthöhle is also reachable after a short drive.
