The Kurpark in the heart of the Ausseerland =========================================== The Kurpark Bad Aussee is a green oasis of calm in the center of the **spa town** and invites you to take a relaxing break between nature and city life. Old chestnut trees provide pleasant shade on warm days, well-maintained green spaces and seating offer places to linger, and the rustling of the **Traun** flowing through the Kurpark accompanies a **walk** through the park area. Due to its central location, the Kurpark is a **popular meeting point** for guests and locals, as well as an **important event venue** in **[Bad Aussee](https://www.ausseerland.at/en/badaussee)**. Especially during the summer months, it regularly comes alive with music around the **Pavilion** and the **Small Kurpark Stage**. The history goes back to 1949 when the geographical center of Austria was determined as part of a competition. Different calculation methods led to Bad Aussee, and the result was later confirmed by an expert opinion from the University of Vienna. Forty years later, today's monument in the Kurpark was created based on a design by sculptor Erich Laufer. Just a few meters away is the **[statue of Archduke Johann](https://www.ausseerstadtrundgang.at/erzherzog-johann-denkmal/)**, which commemorates his presence in the Ausseerland.
