What is striking about this lake is the exclusively **underground inflow**. The quick hike around the lake (approximately 2.2 km) takes place on well-maintained forest and forestry paths. In summer, the Ödensee, as one of the smaller lakes in the **Salzkammergut**, remains a **popular bathing lake** for locals and guests. The **Ödensee** is a natural lake, more specifically a **forest moor lake**, in **[Bad Mitterndorf](https://www.ausseerland.at/en/badmitterndorftauplitz)** in the **Styrian Salzkammergut**. It is located in the municipality of **Pichl-Kainisch** in the **Ausseerland** at an altitude of **776 meters above sea level** and has a maximum depth of about 19 meters. A children's playground and a beach invite for an unforgettable day by the water. Dogs are welcome at Ödensee and on the circular hiking trail. However, swimming in the lake is strictly prohibited for them to protect a rare species of crayfish. For cooling off, dogs can use the nearby drainage brook.
