Bad Goisern Heritage and Landler Museum

Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee, Oberösterreich, Österreich

The name of the museum is the Program here. The Heimat- und Landlermuseum in Bad Goisern not only shows the everyday life of Bad Goisern, but also the living environment of the Landler, which had to emigrate for religious reasons in the 18th century.

The former Goisern Mill today houses the Museum of Rural Life and National Heritage, opened in 1981 by the local history group.

You´ll find the Museum of Rural Life on the ground floor and the Local Heritage Museum on the first and second floors. The Local Heritage Museum provides visitors with insights into the natural and cultural history of the area. The project was partly financed by local government.

Exhibits include local history and documentation relating to the first settlements in the valley, folk culture and art, artists and photography, the famous Goisern boot/shoe maker, the Konrad Deubler Collection and documentation on Protestants driven out of the region in the 18th century.

Guided Tours are arranged by appointment. Please allow at least 30 minutes for your visit.
