Lake Mondsee is primarily known for its [variety of water sports options](https://mondsee.salzkammergut.at/aktivitaeten/sommer/wasser.html). With lake temperatures of up to 27°C, it's no wonder! The [**Alpenseebad Mondsee**](https://mondsee.salzkammergut.at/oesterreich-poi/detail/201982/alpenseebad-mondsee.html), for example, promises a varied swimming experience with its water fun park and countless other attractions as well as the water ski centre. **Surfing and sailing** are the classics of the Mondsee water experience, while **SUP boarding** or even **SUP yoga** (i.e. yoga on a stand-up paddle board**), kitesurfing, waterskiing or wakeboarding** are just waiting to be discovered. There are family and child-friendly courses for all water sports, as well as the option to hire sports equipment. In addition to water sports, there are countless other outdoor activities on offer: **Hiking, cycling, golfing** - the possibilities are endless. Apart from the many opportunities offered by Lake Mondsee, residents are lucky enough to live in an intact cultural and natural landscape. A **European nature reserve** (Mondsee-Attersee) and many **nature reserves** and **natural monuments** are signs of the responsibility we have taken for our homeland. Various rare animals and plants find an important habitat in our homeland. But apart from the activities and natural beauty of Lake Mondsee, [**the eponymous town of Mondsee**](https://mondsee.salzkammergut.at/oesterreich-stadt-ort/detail/430001260/mondsee-am-mondsee.html) also has a lot to offer and is not considered the busiest town centre in the Salzkammergut for nothing. There are a total of **600 events a year**. In addition to the traditional lake festival on the 1st weekend in August, the 5-Lakes Cycle Marathon, a half marathon, live performances by local musicians and clubs take place in the middle of the market square and in Herzog-Odilo-Straße five days a week.
