The most important at a glance

Austria continues to take consistent measures to contain the coronavirus. The first steps towards opening have already been taken. Especially in Vorarlberg, where restaurants and cultural institutions have been allowed to open under certain conditions since 15 March. Tourist travel is currently not possible in Austria. We will inform you immediately about any new developments here. The following regulations currently apply in Austria:

  • Restaurants remain closed (exception: Vorarlberg). Pick-up and delivery services are possible.
  • Accommodation establishments remain closed for tourism purposes throughout Austria.
  • Leisure and cultural establishments such as swimming pools, theatres, cinemas, etc. remain closed. (Exception: Vorarlberg)
  • Retail, museums, libraries and zoos may reopen (FFP2 mask mandatory).
  • Events such as concerts, theatre performances, trade fairs etc. are not possible. (Exception: Vorarlberg)
  • Body-related service businesses can open (customers need a negative Covid test not older than 48 hours).
  • Outlet restriction from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Cable cars and ski resorts can open. However, skiing is de facto only possible for local residents or as part of day trips within the country, given the restrictions (accommodation closed).
  • The FFP2 mask must be worn in many areas such as public transport, trade, service providers or markets.
