It is located at the foot of Loser Mountain in a fantastic mountain landscape. The **water** is crystal clear and has a slightly dark blue hue. That is why the **Altausseer See** is also called the "**dark blue inkwell**". A fenced **panoramic path** about seven kilometers long leads around the lake. The view of the **Dachstein**, as well as the different perspectives of **[Loser](https://www.steiermark.com/de/steiermark/ausflugsziele/panoramastrasse-loser-altaussee_p154432)**, Trisselwand, Tressenstein, and **[Sandling](https://www.steiermark.com/de/steiermark/ausflugsziele/salzwelten-altaussee_p162860)** will inspire. Those who want to shorten the path or prefer a more comfortable way to the **Seewiese** can take the **[solar boat](https://www.steiermark.com/de/steiermark/ausflugsziele/altaussee-schifffahrt-entschleunigen-auf-oesterreichs-erstem-solarschiff_p7908)** across the Altausseer See. Suitable for: Dog prohibition on the lawns and at designated places around Lake Altaussee! Difficulty: Limited wheelchair accessible: partial assistance needed.
